A/Prof Nicolás Urriola is Australia’s first, and thus far only, triple trained and certified Clinical Immunologist, Immunopathologist and neurologist (FRACP, FRCPA, PhD). He is a staff specialist at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney), where he runs the complex allergy challenge clinic and multi-disciplinary vasculitis clinic as well as co-manages the RPAH complex neuroimmunology service as well as participating in the multidisciplinary Connective Tissue Disease meeting alongside his rheumatology colleagues. He is actively involved in the education of the Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology Advanced Trainees, as well as supervising three higher degree students in the area of his interest – the creation of novel, next generation autoantibody diagnostics for orphan autoimmune disorders such as rare immune-mediated neuroimmunological disorders (Autoimmune Autonomic Ganglionopathy, nodo-paranodopathies, autoimmune encephalitis), anti-cytokine antibody syndromes (Adult-Onset Immunodeficiency with Autoantibodies to Interferon-gamma and autoimmune Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis with GM-CSF autoantibodies), Histiocytic Lymphistiocytosis/Macrophage Activation Syndrome, as well the active development for newer diagnostics in more common disorders, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ankylosing Spondyloarthritis. He firmly believes that all Australians should be able to access autoimmune diagnostics – if an autoantibody test is not marketed in Australia due to the ultra-rare nature of the disorder, he endeavours to develop it in-house. Similarly, he is keenly interested in fair and equitable access to high-efficacy medications in Australia, balanced with fiscal responsibility.

Dr David Manser is a neurologist with subspecialty interest in neurogenetics and neurometabolic conditions, and completing dual training in clinical genetics. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney, evaluating precision approaches to adult neurometabolic disorders using long read genome sequencing and novel biomarker validation.

Dr Charlotte Thomas is a Fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists.

She completed her medical degree and then physician training (MRCP) in London, UK following 1st Class Honours Degrees in Psychology, Physiology and Philosophy from Oxford University and Medicine from the University of Bristol.

After working in dermatology research and clinical trials she underwent Dermatology speciality training in New South Wales including rural and remote areas. She was awarded the Ken Paver Medal for Medical Dermatology and the ACD Travelling Fellowship for overall performance in the Fellowship examinations.

Charlotte has completed research and clinical trials in novel biologic treatments for psoriasis and eczema, and targeted therapies in melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. 

She holds a Staff Specialist position at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration and also sees patients privately at  Drummoyne Dermatology and Dermatology North Sydney. Her interests include general and  medical dermatology and skin cancer treatment and prevention.
